The Government will open ACC to competition after striking a deal that will see the ACT Party support proposed ACC legislation when it comes before Parliament next week.
ACC Minister Nick Smith says it is the Government's intention to work with ACT to open the ACC workers account to competition.

No I donot believe ACC should be opened up to competion. It needs to get a lot tougher with their auditing of injuries. No more payouts for Criminals in jail. No payouts for criminals injuring themselves while commiting a crime.
There should be NO coverage for overseas visitors. They should have full comprehensive insurance cover on entering the country. These loop holes need to be closed ASAP.
There is nothing wrong with ACC it just needs to be revamped and a few laws changed to stop these type of payouts.

The NZ public are getting lied to! So no I don't think ACC should be privatised.
Cash in = $4billion
Cash out = $3billion
That means the last round they collected 1billion more than needed. And apparently have 3.5 years of cash reserves. Guess we should be asking the govt why they are really increasing the levies?

Our acc is the best in the world, is better than Aussie by 20% repaid premium, and is over the life cycle instead of finite to a number of years then cutoff, as it is in Aussie.
Leave it alone, why try to fix what isnt broken. Cut back on physio related rehab, increase the surcharge that can be recouped via tax or sumthin

Totally agree with Kapiti Coaster, ARU and Graham Hansen. Nick Smith, I think you are exaggerating for party political rather than NZ national interest reasons. Respect the original intent and benefits of ACC

I am against privatisation as none so far has been for the benefit of NZ but rather for the profit of mostly foriegners. You only have to read the investment newsletters overseas to see how they drool over the profits that can quickly be made from the "privatisation story".
The Govt is not acting for the people but for vested interests.
As for ACC requiring a diagnosis before you can receive any benefit in sex abuse cases, that smacks of psychaitric manipulation of ACC and any future owner of it.
Psychiatric diagnosis has no place in ACC claims whatever because they are fraudulent to begin with, having no scientific or medical basis, and are a marketing exercise for drug companies to increase their sales and profits.
