Should Tony Veitch keep his TVNZ and Radio Sport jobs?

Due to the ongoing legal action and pending court case this discussion thread has now been closed down.

It may be reopened at a later date following the conclusion of the police investigation and subsequent  court action.

Linda Spittles (Silverdale) Shellz (Auckland) I also find it "funny" that the person who seemed to have such a great deal of knowledge from an inside source close to Ms Dunne-Powell of what allegedly happened in Jan 06 appears not to have known of the 6 alleged previous occasions!

Otherwise I am sure they would have had great delight in leaking that information also. Why did they not? Would it be perhaps because they do not put Ms Dunne-Powell in a very good light?

I think the whole saga is very sad rather than serious. I believe Ms Dunne-Powell has opened a pandora's box she may well wish she hadn't. Mr Veitch seemed quite relieved that the case is now going to court as it will enable him to at last tell his side of the whole affair, something I believe will not present Ms Dunne-Powell as the innocent party so far put forward.

Auckland Girl (Auckland Central) I am completely disgusted with the NZ media & police over how Tony Veitch has been treated. What happened to everyone having the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty?

Clearly this does not apply to Tony. Reading his wifes side of the story was heart breaking, this whole thing has completely torn their lives apart. I would never condone violence against anyone - but at this stage no one has the full story so noone has the right to play judge, jury & executioner.

As for his ex partner, one would have to question her motives behind all this. Firstly - why did she not report this to the authorities at the time of the alleged assaults? Why would she stay in constant contact with someone who seriously assaulted her? Why come forward now (coincidentally before the Olympic Games which quite clearly would have been the highlight of his career). I smell a rat.

Tony & Zoe I feel for you both, no one deserves to be treated so unfairly. Stay strong & take comfort in your love for each other. It may feel like the world is against you but I assure you, you have plenty of supporters too - hang in there!

Shellz (auckland) 6 counts of assault, funny for all those idiots that actually believed he'd allegedly only done this once!

Katie Craig (Bexley) Booo hoooo. TV is now paying in part the consequences of his violent behaviour. dont tell me he has paid his dues. do you know that abuse victims suffer every day of their lives, for what has happened to them.
TV, I am glad you arent on my screen with the Olympic Games. That I have watched your programmes in the past, disgusts me. specially over the last couple of years.

What is his wife even thinking, supporting such a little thug. It sickens me, but I bet she will be a good little girl, knowing what a monster he can be.

Good on Matthew Ridge. for severing connection to this thug.

Peter D (West Harbour) I get the feeling that tired old Paul Holmes is almost supporting Veitch in relation to this incident of abuse.

My goodness what a wimp of a man Veitch is! Any man who shows violnce towards woman children or animals is not worth spitting on.

I feel tired old Paul Holmes needs to distance himself from Veitch completely to sustain his own credibilty.

Veitch is a broken man now, and good, this is the way it should be. It has been commentated that Veitch will never work in broadcasting again. Good. That is his punishment, and no further punishment needs to be enforced by the courts, other than a black mark on NIA (police computer). This will ensure that other countries that Veitch may apply to work in are aware of what the man has done.

He just needs to go away now.
