Cycling and pedestrian links across Auckland Harbour have been priced at between $24 million and $43 million, heralding a difficult debate among regional and city leaders over their worth.
Is it worth putting a cycleway on the Harbour Bridge? Here is the latest selection of Your Views:

If we wish to call Auckland a super city then it should be just that, a place where people can get from A to B in all modes of traffic cars, buses cycling, walking, ferry, etc. Has anyone tried to walk between North Shore and Auckland CBD or cycle, at least an extra 40km over the Greenhithe Bridge. super city hardly more like city of two halves.
If NZ wishes to be forward thinking why spend millions on tunnels widening roads building extra highways because the volume of traffic is always increasing. make it safer for cycling, more buses trains etc and there is no need for cater for yet more cars.
In ten years time when fuel prices go through the roof people will be screaming for other modes of transport.don't say you were not warned.

$43 million for a cycleway is pretty good value and Auckland should go for it ASAP. The cycle/walkway over the NW motorway Waterview/Avondale off ramp cost just over $1m

Graham of Howick:
Some cyclists are arrogant according to you?
So are 99% of drivers of cars!
Your point is what exactly?

Cyclists are the most arrogant bunch of people on the road. They ride 3+ in a row, hold up traffic, and then get angry when you toot at the fat spandex clad losers to warn them of your presence. I have made it my past time to mess with freaks.
And they are hands down the easiest people to p*** off, and its extemely entertaining!
I say bring it on, add a cycle way. I will be waiting for you every morning with a couple of cartons of eggs on a motorway overbridge.

Perhaps it would be possible to suspend a tunnel made out of perspex underneath the bridge-this would allow cyclists and pedestrians to cross without getting wet and being exposed to winds.
